Before the clocks were put forward, I decided on a fundraising challenge for People Against Poverty’s projects. I used the fresh energy gained from Spring’s arrival to get back to baking. I planned to make brownies aplenty!
I found it helpful watching the Episode on chocolate from the last Great British Bake-Off series. It was a fine balance to get a gooey centre recommended by Prue Leith with ten minutes less in the oven! Varying my chosen brownie recipe using two-thirds dark chocolate with a third milk chocolate produced a delicious result. It was fun to decorate the tops for Easter with a chocolate egg. One helpful tip was to temper the chocolate before pouring into egg moulds; this gave the promised shiny finish.
It was such a good feeling when they sold well over Mother’s Day & Easter and worth a lot of chocolatey mixture for me to wash up after two bake sales! Without doubt a collaboration with my mother who did Spring Flower arrangements to go with the brownies made it a success!
People Against Poverty really motivates me as a Youth Ambassador. The charity always reminds me to think big! When you know times are tough, there are people in places of need who should not face hardships alone.
