We are pleased to introduce our Team:

Belinda Wadsworth

Chief Executive Officer

Belinda has been working in the charity sector for nearly 25 years. Initially she founded and ran a local volunteering charity, providing practical support (gardening, painting and decorating) for those on low incomes. From here she has gone on to hold leadership roles in a variety of national and international charities, setting up new initiatives and teams, developing innovative programmes in the UK and abroad.

She brings to People Against Poverty her passion for working collaboratively with those experiencing poverty, disadvantage and discrimination to facilitate transformational change in the lives of their communities.

When not working she loves time with her family, training for triathlons, singing in choirs, and growing wonky veg!

James Baker

Director of Development

For over 25 years, James has been working with organisations from a wide sector of industries. Over this time, he has held roles at Director and Board Level in strategic business analysis and planning, and marketing, fundraising and communications. He has a heart and a passion for social justice, both within his work and personal life.

He is delighted to be part of the People Against Poverty Leadership Team working collectively to ensure the charity extends its reach and impact to as many individuals as possible.

When James is not working, he can be found volunteering in his local church, leading youth groups, enjoying outdoor pursuits with his family, and training for triathlons!

Val Huxley

Volunteer Mission Ambassador

After a life changing visit to Romania in 2004 Val left her family and friends back in Kent to move to Wiltshire to support the then fledgling charity. Few would argue that since joining the charity she has been the main stay whilst going through many changes over the years, serving selflessly. Respected by project leaders and loved by hundreds of the children and families within our projects, Val is fired up for the charity’s objectives in helping to relieve communities from poverty and continues to support the team as a volunteer Mission Ambassador.

In her spare time Val loves to visit the cinema and local fringe theatre.  She is also currently in training as a volunteer member for her local canal trust helping crew one of the many boating trips that take place. Being with her grandchildren is something that keeps Val on the ball.
