We are pleased to introduce our Board of Trustees:

Paul van Haver

Chair of Trustees

Paul van Haver is vice president at TechSoup, an international NGO who helps build technology capabilities in the social sector, working with more than 1.000.000 NGOs all over the world.

At TechSoup Paul is responsible for the creation and execution of their data strategy. He oversees a portfolio of strategic projects and relationships related to global NGO validation and NGO information services. Having worked for large global consulting firms like Cap Gemini and Price WaterHouse Coopers, Paul will bring 30 years of management consulting experience to the board. Over the last 8 years in his current role as the executive director of The TechSoup Trust in the UK, Paul has become well aware of all required governance processes for charities in the UK.

Paul was fortunate enough to go on a couple of trips to Romania to contribute and be hands-on involved in the work of the charity on the ground. This gave Paul the motivation to get more actively involved in the charity. Paul lives in Trowbridge, Wiltshire.

Bill Huxley

Founder Trustee

Founder of Business against Poverty, relationship is at the centre of who Bill is. He loves to link businesses and other communities to the international projects we work with, currently in Romania, Nepal and Haiti. He has an ambition for all those who engage in the fight against injustice and poverty to prosper financially, emotionally and spiritually.

He is a qualified Therapeutic Counsellor and a Member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (MBACP) & Member of the Association of Christian Counsellors (MACC), Person-centred working within an integrated framework specialising in trauma therapy. Bill is also a Certified and Accredited Personal Coach and a Member of the Association of Coaching (MAC.) Bill attends the West Wilts Vineyard Church in Trowbridge.

Dr Harvey Maylor

Trustee

Harvey is Associate Professor of Management Practice at Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford. He is the author of 5 management books, including the 4th edition of Project Management, Europe’s best-selling text on the subject. In addition to his research and teaching at Oxford, he is the owner of Project Management Publishing and Consulting Ltd., a firm that offers high-level development for strategic projects. His clients include Airbus, Shell, UBS and BAE Systems.

Harvey lives in Bathford with his wife Kara and their 4 children, where they have lived since 1999, and are part of the community at their local church, St Swithun’s.

Andrew Fisher

Trustee/Charity Treasurer

Andrew qualified as a Chartered Accountant with a big four firm in 1987. His experience since qualifying includes spells with Price Waterhouse Coopers and in senior accounting roles with commercial organisations large and small.

He ran his own practice for many years before co-founding Alanbrookes Limited Chartered Accountants and Registered Auditor in 2008, which now has offices in Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and Somerset. Amongst its many areas of work, Alanbrookes is one of the country’s leading firms in supplying accounting, tax, audit and advisory services to Co-operatives, including many community based renewable energy companies.

The two things that give Andrew most enjoyment in his work are helping clients achieve their business and personal objectives, and defending the powerless against the mighty.

He attends West Wilts Vineyard Church in Trowbridge.

Karen Ramirez

Trustee

Karen is a communications professional with a career that has included working at senior level in the banking, travel and tourism, hospitality, sport and security sectors. She speaks Spanish and French and has worked with many regions of the world, including Latin America, Eastern and Western Europe, the Middle East and USA. She brings a wealth of multi-national experience and international contacts to her work, enabling business beyond borders, where nothing is lost in translation.

Karen is the Founder of Sporting Sheroes, a company that works with women in sport – all levels, all sports – to help them raise their profile and develop and deliver healthy sport sponsorship packages.

She also serves on the Senior Management Board of the Cross-sector Safety & Security Communications (CSSC) hub, was a former Chair of AWTE (the Association of Women Travel Executives), has won the AWTE Business Impact Award and is listed on the Women 1st Top 100 Most Influential Women in Hospitality, Passenger Transport, Travel & Tourism.

Stuart Brown

Trustee

Stuart Brown gained a 1st Class Bachelor Science degree from the University of London in 1977 and is a Chartered Water and Environmental Manager. He started his working life in research chemistry before joining Thames Water in 1979.  In 1999 Stuart set up his own freelance consulting business, specialising in policy and institutional development in the environment and related sectors in transition economies. From 2012 to 2013 he was the European Union High Level Policy Adviser to the Minister of Environment of Moldova, under the auspices of the United Nations Development Programme. Most recently he has been working in Vietnam in connection with developing bilateral trade relations with the European Union. Stuart and his wife Esther visited Romania as a personal initiative in 1990, since when Stuart has worked regularly there, to the point where he is now a fluent Romanian speaker.In parallel with this, Stuart is also a musician and composer, with published works that have been performed in the USA.

Ben is the founder of Second Mountain Comms, a communications consultancy specialising in helping ethically-minded and purpose-driven companies and charities through PR, content and marketing strategy.

Ben is an experienced marketing, PR and corporate comms professional, committed to doing things the right way. A creative and strategic thinker with 15 years’ industry experience, Ben has worked with household names across the technology, food and drink, property, healthcare and lifestyle sectors, helping them to tell their stories to the audiences that matter most. A passionate content writer, former freelance national journalist and CIPR Accredited Practitioner, Ben’s primary focus is on helping good people and business leaders do good, by championing their values, accomplishments and purpose.

Ben lives in Holt, Wiltshire with his wife and two young children and is part of the St Katherine’s Church community in the village.

Rhoderline Kyeme

Trustee and Secretary to the Trustees

Rhoderline is a Project & Programme management professional, having worked in the IT consulting arena for the past 20 years. The varied nature of consulting has provide opportunity to work with clients across the globe and multiple industry sectors. After 14 years working for a few well known consultancies, Rhoderline took the opportunity to become an independent consultant which she feels has given her the best of both worlds in terms of her 9-5 / non-curricular passions.

One of these passions is health & fitness; Rhoderline qualified as a Personal Trainer & Nutrition Specialist a few years ago (during one of many sabbaticals) and now has a handful of clients she trains 1:1 as well as running weekly group circuit class (which was borne during the pandemic lockdown). Aside health & fitness, her other passion is charitable projects some of which includes volunteering as an organiser for Crisis homeless charity for the past 16 years and also volunteering as a youth mentor for Urban Synergy (a youth empowerment charity based in London).

Rhoderline lives in Beckenham (Kent) and attends Holy Trinity Brompton (HTB) church in London.

Dick Beath

Non-Executive Director

During a progressive career as a British Infantry officer, Dick became a Christian, whilst doing a science degree at RMC Shrivenham. After a further eight years Dick left the Army as an acting Major and acted as a carer for his elderly father for five years until he died. Dick married Cherry who is a trained artist, probation officer and a local councillor and he continued training as an accountant in the Health Service.

Both he and Cherry have been involved in the Church in Foxhill on Combe Down, Bath and saw the whole Church including Holy Trinity becoming renewed. Dick has taught in England and abroad and currently supports the parish of Peasedown St John. Dick acts as a Chaplain at the RUH and does programmes on local radio. He has been involved in helping Charities in the UK and those which operate in Africa.
