We have been amazed at the progress that the Micro Farm has made in the relatively short time that it has been up and running. The next step to grow the project is to purchase a tractor and this is now a real necessity for the Micro Farm. There are many things that can’t be done without machinery; at the moment they are only able to use horses which require care and have to be looked after and they are not able to use these horses to plough for cereals, meaning that it must all be done by hand.
The Tractor will not be used just for the Micro Farm. Like the Mill it will be for the benefit of the whole community. It will be used for sustainable wood transportation from woodland on peoples land, it will also help people grow food on their own land. Many of the gardens are full of roots and it’s impossible for the horses to get rid of them, but a tractor would get them out easily. Seeding with horses is very manual and difficult to do in line, also they are not able to water or herbicide with horses. A tractor would make this possible and easy. People from Uncesti have between 10 and 15 hectares in their gardens and many own 10 or 15 more in extra land. There is a lot of un-worked land which will benefit the Micro Farm tremendously and transportation if they are able to get the tools to work it.
