Having worked with our project partner in Nepal Krishna Pokharel now for 14 years, together we have shared the tears and joy with the people he works with on a day to day basis. The tears were for many during 2014 when iconic buildings, temples, homes and lives were lost due to the earthquake. Continue reading
Well for our first attempt at running a Christmas Fair, we think we “faired” well. With 25 stalls setting up early on Saturday morning on the first day of December at the newly renovated hall of West Wilts Vineyard Church in Trowbridge, the festivities began to take place and in no time at all, the hall had a wonderful array of beautiful arts and crafts to feast your eyes upon. I have had the privilege of serving the charity as Chair of Trustees for 9 years and in that time I have overseen significant growth and witnessed the impact of our work on thousands of lives. I in consultation with Valerie, (my wife and our CEO) I have determined that it is now the time for me to step aside as the Chair while continuing to serve as a trustee, contributing to our great mission as the co-founder of People against Poverty and founder of Business against Poverty.
The annual gala this year was our 8th fundraising event and it was a fun packed evening where where 120 guests were treated to lots of activities to get involved in. Arriving on the Red Carpet to collect their Martini Cocktails (sponsored by Bailbrook House), the tables adorned with giant dice and oversized playing cards added to the ambience of the theme of James Bond Casino Royale. The mother of Young ‘S’, just 4 years old, presented her son’s problem to project leader Costel when it was becoming more and more difficult for the child to function properly. Not only did ‘S’ have the hernia to deal with, he was suffering from malnourishment and has a heart problem. Continue reading
Putting the family into the Family Partnership Programme was new to them but fully welcomed by the whole family who really wanted to move on with their lives.
