After a painstaking few months to the start of the year due to covid and the weather, we are finally beginning to dig the Borewells in India.
We will be producing 5 new borewells for communities in the Andra Pradesh region under the care of our project leader Prasant Yelchuri of Haven Home. Prasant has worked hard behind the scenes, talking to recipients of the individual communities what it would mean to them to have the clean running water in the village. They told us that it would be a lifeline for them. Having to drink contaminated dirty water makes everyone ill.
Our borewells have been individually sponsored and we are grateful to the sponsors for their donation of £900 each. Every borewell will have their own plaque and be named by the sponsor.
The first of the Borewells to be built is “Philbrick” in Somalingapuram, named after the late father of the individual supporter. The second borewell which is currently under construction is based in the Damarasingi Village and was donated by Patrick Moss of Moss Naylor Young as his business reached 10 years old. Patrick is naming the borewell Joan Moss in memory of his late mother. The following 3 borewells will be made once the floods have left the area.
If you would like to consider sponsoring a Borewell and giving children the opportunity to taste fresh clean water rather than sharing it with the cattle, please do get in touch
