Mayden is a digital healthcare company established in 2000 by Chris May. The company is privately owned and employs around 100 staff at their two offices in Bath. A subsidiary has also been set up in Australia.

Mayden provides managed web applications and bespoke system development to the healthcare sector. They specialise in innovative, flexible and cloud-based software solutions, driven by the desire to add real value to healthcare by developing applications that have the power to change the way services are delivered by staff, and experienced by patients.

They are proud to say that, of 25 software developers, over 40% are women, many of whom have joined the company through iO Academy, which Mayden established in 2015 to increase the availability of technical skills into the local economy. Together these factors led to Mayden being awarded UK Software Development Team of the year in 2018.

Equally, Mayden is known locally for its unique way of working. The company has adopted Agile working practices to develop its software solutions, and is unusual in having applied these principles to the whole organisation. The company has a flattened organisational structure allowing them to be more responsive to customer needs and changing circumstances, such as a pandemic!

Mental health is currently Mayden’s core area of focus. To this end they have invested significantly to support the wellbeing and mental health of their own staff. They have in-house mental health first aiders as well as offering staff access to free therapy and other sources of mental health support via programmes they have enrolled in.
