We are sad to say that our longtime Patron, Matt Graham, has now stepped down. It has been wonderful to have Matt as our Patron and we would like to thank him for all everything that he has given to the charity in the time that he has been patron. This is what he had to say:

Dear People against Poverty!

With a heavy heart I am stepping down as patron of this extraordinary charity. My career and personal life are taking me on a different path and I will be spending a good deal of time in the U.S.

I have been honoured and inspired by the work of the team led by Val and Bill. Their commitment is beyond question as is their passion for attacking poverty and social inequality. But coupled with that is a zest for humanity, a gift for enthusiasm and laughter and most of all Love. They are the ever-present and accessible face of this charity and that is one of the reasons it is so special. I have also been inspired and humbled by the tireless and inventive ways that the companies and individuals connected to PaP have found new routes to raising money and support some of the world’s most impoverished communities. Ceaseless dedication and (that word again) Love, has truly moved mountains – from the snowy peaks of Nepal to the grimy forgotten ghettos of Romania.

I will continue to read the news on the website and keep in touch with Val, Bill and Jenny. And I will not forget the people or the incredible work being done without fanfare out of the West Country. I’m going to use that word again… much LOVE to you all and thank you for allowing me to be a part of it.

Matthew Graham
