We are working to empower women through the self-help group approach where women organize themselves in groups and are trained in microfinance.
Through self- help groups, women conduct weekly savings and lend each other money. We believe that if women are empowered, households are also empowered. Women empowerment is a tool for reducing inequalities and promoting women’s rights and participation in decision making at household and community level.
Household’s income and livelihood means of the poorest households, it is very limited because of their lack of capacity for purchasing productive asset, limited capital for investment etc. Gender inequality, lack of awareness & knowledge, little access to services and resources, absence of collective economic activities, backwardness in technologies and techniques etc. are, amongst others, the factors for their low income. Therefore the program plans to empower vulnerable women to be able to contribute to their household economies through Self Help Group approach.
