As you can imagine changes in the economy, uncertainty over Brexit and many people feeling the squeeze on their income has had an effect on many charities and their finances. In addition to these changes, over the last 6 months or so we have faced a number of challenging events, the combination of which has been significant and the result is that the reserve funds of People against Poverty are very low.
Some of these challenging events are:
- Due to no fault of our own we have had to move offices twice in the last year.
- A large shortfall in out biggest fundraiser of the year (the Gala Ball).
- Loss of business support due to poor trading conditions here in the UK.
- Increased costs and exchange rates post Brexit have lowered the value of the pound overseas.
We ourselves have been working hard to reduce costs so that we can build our reserve fund back up and continue our support for the projects. We would ask, if you have the financial resource to consider setting up a standing order for £5, £10, £15 or £20 a month or by making a one off donation we would be extremely grateful.
You can set up a Direct Debit here or if you prefer you can create a Standing Order through your bank to the following details: 65806168, 08/92/99.
Thank you to all of you for your support during this time!
